The Cheka-OGPU managed to talk with the organizer of the last interview with American journalist Evan Gershkovich, political strategist from Yekaterinburg Yaroslav Shirshikov. He tore to pieces the FSB’s version that the journalist was engaged in espionage activities. On the day of his arrest, Gershkovich arrived to meet with Yevgeny Roizman. Moreover, Gershkovich sent official requests to the Ministry of Defense and received permission for interviews regarding this department in the region. A good “spy” is one who notifies the Ministry of Defense of his plans in an official letter and asks for permission.
As Shirshikov said, the WSJ correspondent had no interest in military-industrial complex enterprises. He spoke in detail about Gershkovich’s visit and explained that he was interested in Prigozhin’s personality and the latter’s attempts to influence Yekaterinburg. According to Yaroslav, at Evan’s official request, an interview was agreed upon with a representative of the Ministry of Defense in the region, but 15 minutes before the meeting, the military canceled everything. Gershkovich also revealed the purpose of the American’s return visit to Yekaterinburg, which they tried to color as a mystery.
