The Cheka-OGPU learned the biography of the murderer of Kemerovo student Vera Pekhteleva, who was pardoned by the president. Vladislav Kanyus’s father was a local party leader—United Russia. He divorced the mother of his three children when they were still young. Two of them (including the future killer) stayed with dad. They even lived in the same house with the Pekhtelevs, the heads of the families greeted each other and Kanyus Sr. even borrowed from a neighbor until payday. More than 10 years ago, the latter stole a phone from a cell phone store, he was caught and, realizing that his party career was over, he shot himself with two 12-gauge barrels. After this, Vladislav returned to his mother and stepfather, who, by the way, is not much older than his stepson. The whole process: from the investigation to the trial was a tragedy and drama for the victims, but in the end something happened that was incompatible with common sense and the concept of justice.

In court, Vladislav Kanyus was acquitted of rape charges and released from prosecution due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. But that’s not all – a recent prisoner was pardoned and went to war. Arriving at IK-44 (only in the first wave of recruitment to PMC Wagner, more than 100 people left for the front), sentenced to 17 years for murder, he tried with particular cruelty to pretend to be a thieve, but quickly got hit in the face and began to cooperate with the administration. About two months later, he signed up as a volunteer and went on to kill, only legally – as part of the Storm detachment under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense. This is confirmed by the fact that the “freedom” was signed by Vladimir Putin in April 2023. At that time, there was no longer any recruitment into the Wagner PMC, as the mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin himself announced back in February. From there, Vladislav Kanyus began posting photographs of his everyday life and even responding to local reporters, saying that he was ready to give an interview for 1 million rubles.

The further fate of the killer is not known for certain. Recently, there has been such a legal paradox: recently, just a couple of months ago, in September-October, there was a hearing in the Supreme Court on a complaint from victims. And Vladislav Kanyus, who had already been pardoned at that time, was listed as a defendant. Moreover, earlier he wrote a paper that he wanted to be present at all meetings. And this question was raised when he was absent even via video link. Themis took a break. A week later, the defendant’s lawyer appeared in court and presented a letter from the principal, transmitted to him via WhatsApp. That is, the court clearly had the opportunity and reason to inquire about the status and location of the defendant. But despite this, Vladislav Kanyus was still tried, even despite the mercy of the president.

Currently, Vladislav Kanyus’ phone is turned on: his Telegram account is associated with both this number and a SIM card that previously belonged to a Ukrainian, most likely a trophy one. Neither the “volunteer”, nor he, nor his relatives get in touch. Official authorities and departments are sending replies, and Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov today voiced the Kremlin’s position, calling the release of the ruthless murderer redemption by blood.
