Experts found that, against the backdrop of constant “dripping on the brain,” Konovalov Jr. “had his personal resources depleted,” and he suffered psychological trauma, from which only the intervention of psychotherapists could help him get rid of it. As a result, on February 5, a conversation in the kitchen with his mother, which escalated into a quarrel, became the “last straw”; the 50-year-old man pulled out a knife and began beating his parents with the blade.
However, investigators have doubts about the conclusions of the examination. Now they require a repeat study with the involvement of other specialists, because information about the cumulative affect of the son of the intelligence couple contradicts the main version of the investigation. Immediately after the double murder, Alexei Konovalov tried to hide the traces of the crime: he wiped the blood off his shoes, threw the knife in the trash, and even tried to provide himself with an alibi, repeatedly calling his parents from his mobile phone, knowing that they were already dead.
The source suggests that the experts who conducted the initial psychoanalysis could have some selfish goals. It is known that Alexey Konovalov recently worked in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and has quite extensive connections in the apparatus of officials, including in medicine. In addition, Alexei’s parents – retired SVR colonel Viktor Konovalov and his wife Valentina Konovalova – worked in illegal intelligence for a long time and managed to accumulate a considerable fortune and acquire good real estate. After their death, all this can go to the heir if they admit that he committed murder in a state of passion – the case can be reclassified and, as a result, the accused will be released after some time.
