The Cheka-OGPU learned that a person involved in the “case of the vice-mayors of Sochi” tried to bribe the Supreme Court for 29.5 million rubles.

At the end of 2022, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow sentenced to long terms of imprisonment the former first deputy head of Sochi Anatoly Rykov, the ex-deputy head of the city Sergei Yurin and two other defendants in the case of accepting bribes worth 120 million rubles. One of the first defendants was the bribe-giver, founder of the Manufactura-Yug company Igor Stroganov. He stated that the officials forced him to give in, but despite this he was sentenced to 7 years of strict regime and a fine of 80 million rubles.

According to investigators, Stroganov turned to the former federal judge who exposed the system and judge Khakhalev, the notorious lawyer-blogger Dmitry Novikov. He allegedly promised him to “resolve the issue” during the consideration of the cassation appeal in the Supreme Court for 29.5 million rubles. Stroganov himself gave half of the amount to Novikov, and his wife gave the other half to the defender’s son.

In 2021, Dmitry Novikov was charged with a similar case – he allegedly promised to help avoid responsibility for bribing his acquaintances in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The lawyer himself stated that the persecution was related to his exposure of the judicial system of the Krasnodar region. The other day, the Investigative Committee ordered a pre-investigation check on the episode with Igor Stroganov.
