For relatives, Viktor Trukhin disappeared on September 5. On this day it became known that he was being fired. He wrote a farewell letter to his subordinates. After which he disappeared from contact. For three days, the daughter tried to find Trukhin, after which she wrote a statement to law enforcement agencies. On September 7, a case was opened against Trukhin under Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (embezzlement). And on September 8, he tried to leave the Russian Federation for Belarus and was detained by officers of the Russian FSB, who apparently knew that the director of the Vaccine Research Institute was going to travel abroad. That is, it turns out that the case came to light only after it became clear that Trukhin intended to leave the Russian Federation and could tell a lot of interesting things about Russian “vaccines and serums.”
As for the criminal case, according to the Cheka-OGPU, it is about the fact that Trukhin allegedly made an inappropriate payment to the Latin American Institute of Biotechnology Mechnikov in the amount of 5,940,000 US dollars.
“Latin American Institute of Biotechnology Mechnikov” is a joint Russian-Nicaraguan enterprise, the joint-stock company whose shareholders are distributed as follows: Russian Federation – 66%, Nicaragua – 34%. On behalf of the Russian Federation, FSUE SPB NIIVS FMBA of Russia acts on behalf of Nicaragua – the Nicaraguan Institute of Social Insurance (INSS). On behalf of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise St. Petersburg NIIVS FMB of Russia, direct representation was carried out by Trukhin, who, in turn, also has Nicaraguan citizenship.
