On this occasion, the economic police visited two committees of the administration of the 47-region: the Committee on Culture and Tourism and the Committee on the Preservation of Cultural Heritage. But what is interesting here is not the serious seizure of documents in this department, but the fact that the operatives provide support to the investigator from the central office of the Sledkom, who arrived in St. Petersburg from Moscow. According to colleagues, the search is related to the resumption of an old criminal case regarding the theft of funds during the restoration of the cultural monument of the Koporye Fortress. Back in 2017, the chairman of the regional Museum Agency, Lesya Kolesnikova, became a defendant. Then the police considered that in only one of the episodes of the restoration of the object, out of 7 million rubles allocated for these purposes. Almost two-thirds were stolen. However, then information about the further investigation of the UD did not appear in the media, and Lesya Kolesnikova has retained her position to this day. Moreover, two years later, Kolesnikova’s Museum Agency continued to enter into contracts with the same contractor who became involved in the UD in Koporye.
In 2020, after the collapse of part of the masonry of the fortress, Alexander Bastrykin instructed the Leningrad Region Investigative Committee to deal with the situation, but even after that no one broke the calm. Lesya’s husband, Konstantin Polnov, headed the “execution” Committee for Housing and Communal Services and Transport, and her son worked as a procurement specialist in the regional Capital Repair Fund.
