The Cheka-OGPU became aware of new methods of recruiting prisoners in Russian colonies. First, the inmates are convinced by ex-prisoners who allegedly survived the war, and then threats follow, including joining forces with the “offended.”

As our interlocutor said, a certain brigade is now “touring” in various Russian colonies, the participants of which are also represented as prisoners who were allegedly recruited into the Wagner PMC, went through the war and found themselves free. “Convicts” tell how long they had to sit in prison, but thanks to the war they are already free and with money. After this, the inmates are offered to enroll not only in the Wagner PMC, but as contract workers in the Ministry of Defense.

However, according to the source, there are still catastrophically few people willing, since everyone knows that returning from the war is practically impossible. And here the administrative resource is fully utilized. For example, in IK-1 of the Tula region, prisoners are strongly recommended to go to war, frightening that soon they will begin to “set up the regime” there and it will finally be “red”. At the same time, ordinary prisoners will allegedly be forcibly mixed with the “offended”, who are now kept separately. Those who want to avoid this need to sign documents with the Ministry of Defense, they threaten in the IC.
