The case of the controversial lawyer Gennady Udunyan finally reached the Presnensky Court of Moscow. The ex-defender of the victims in the case of football players Kokorin and Mamaev, this time he himself found himself in the place of his counterparts – behind bars in the dock. After reading out all the charges, including armed hooliganism, assault with penetration, and even bribes, the court extended Udunyan’s arrest for six months and set the date for the next hearing. According to those close to him, Udunyan was in a hurry to get acquainted with the case in order to end up in the “tame” and “favorite” Presnensky court as soon as possible. The investigative measures carried out in the case established the fact that Udunyan exerted pressure on the only adamant victim in the case – Evgeny Zykov, whom the lawyer beat in the capital’s Lotte Plaza hotel. Udunyan tried to find justice for the principled Zykov through a large number of ordered and discrediting articles published in various media. According to Zykov’s claims, all articles were recognized as fake and discrediting his honor and business reputation. The name of lawyer Gennady Udunyan was also repeatedly mentioned in connection with the case of swindler Albert Khudoyan, who was sentenced to eight years for land fraud. Udunyan’s attempt to “help” the developer led to the arrest of two generals of the SD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Udunyan managed to avoid charges in this case only thanks to his cooperation in the investigation and incriminating testimony against law enforcement officers.
