The Bar Association of the Republic of Bashkortostan announced the possibility of a large-scale strike of lawyers in a number of Russian regions due to debts from government departments.

Funding from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation is of particular concern. Lawyers are not paid for at least several months and up to two years. A similar situation is developing in the bar chambers of the Sverdlovsk, Kurgan, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk regions, Perm Territory and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.

The leadership of these chambers, including the Bar Association of the Republic of Bashkortostan, made a joint appeal addressed to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation M.V. Mishustin, where they asked to understand the reasons for the untimely funding of the regional Main Directorates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for remuneration of lawyers, and to take immediate measures to resolve problems arising related to the remuneration of lawyers and the repayment of the resulting debt, as well as the payment of lawyers in accordance with the procedure Art. Art. 50-51 and the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, in strict accordance with current legislation.

In their address, the presidents of the chambers indicate that these measures must be taken immediately in order to avoid problems in the continuous work of the inquiry and preliminary investigation bodies in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, as well as to prevent the creation of social tension in the legal community.

In addition, the Chamber of Lawyers, in order to resolve the current situation, has repeatedly raised the issue with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Belarus, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the Office of the Judicial Department in the Republic of Belarus, and the Federal Bailiff Service of Russia for the Republic of Belarus regarding the repayment of debts to lawyers.

At the beginning of December of this year, the Chamber of Lawyers began to receive numerous requests from bar associations of the republic and their branches with a request for assistance in contacting the authorized bodies regarding the repayment of debts to lawyers. In many appeals, lawyers raised the issue of the possible suspension of activities in the order of appointment in the event of failure to pay a multi-month debt.
