The Bank of Russia retained the key rate at the level of 21% per annum

Today, the Central Bank has retained the key rate at 21% per annum, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports with reference to the official website of the regulator.

After maintaining a key rate at the level of 21% of the Central Bank, “the feasibility of raising the key rate at the nearest meeting, taking into account the further dynamics of lending and inflation,” the regulator said.

In the coming months, inflationary pressure in Russia will begin to decline under the influence of tough monetary conditions, the statement said. It is noted that the achieved rigidity of these conditions forms the prerequisites for the resumption of disinflation and the return of inflation to the target of 4%.

Recall that at the end of October, when the rate was increased to 21%, the Bank of Russia made the possibility of further raising the key rate. So, according to the data forecast, annual inflation will decrease to 4.5–5% in 2025 and 4% in 2026.
