The Bank of Russia recommended for forgiving mortgage debts to residents of the border guards

This measure will affect residents of the Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions.

The Central Bank of Russia recommended lenders to forgive mortgage debts to residents of the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions whose houses were destroyed, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports with reference to the official The site of the regulator.

The regulator’s report says: “The Bank of Russia recommends that the creditors consider the restructuring statements received from residents of the border areas from evacuated or forced to resettled citizens in the shortest possible time and provide a mortgage delay for up to 1 year without accruing interest,” the Central Bank press service said.

At the same time, restructuring should not worsen the credit history of the borrower, the Central Bank noted.

If the housing is partially destroyed and is subject to restoration, creditors are recommended to exempt borrowers from paying mortgage payments for a year without accruing interest. In particularly difficult life situations, the debt is also recommended partially or completely write off.
