The Bank of Russia and the Government will prepare a bill against fraud on the network

The document should be developed until December 2024.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Grigorenko, at the Finopolis 2024 site, said that the Russian government and the Central Bank want to put a barrier of fraud on the Internet, introducing the need for a loan, the corresponding bill is being developed, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports.

He noted that the bill offers the introduction of an additional step that customers will have to be completed in advance, otherwise they will face a refusal to obtain an online loan.

“This is the identification of the client’s accounts and the complication of the possibility of issuing these loans to the accounts of third parties. That is, it is such a set of measures that, in our opinion, will make it possible to complicate the performing fraudulent operations and as if it will even prevent them,” added Deputy Prime Minister.

The head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina in September expressed an opinion on the need to introduce a cooling period for loans, the amount of which exceeds 50 thousand rubles. She expresses anxiety about increasing cases of credit fraud, when people not only lose their savings, but also take loans, transferring money to the scammers, eventually remaining debtors in front of the banks.

In early October, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to consolidate the measures against theft using social engineering, including the institution of the “cooling period,” until December.
