The minister’s other “environmental protection” idea is no less harmful. By initiative Chuichenko may add pine nuts to the list of strategically important goods and adopt amendments to the Criminal Code providing for criminal liability for the collection and subsequent sale of pine nuts to China. There are a lot of pine nuts in those parts, but little work. Thousands of families in Siberia and the Far East survive only thanks to the cedar industry…
A lot has already been said about the distortions in the work of the Ministry of Justice. Previously Chuichenko decided remove pre-trial detention centers from urban centers, and move colonies generally outside populated areas. Of course, this would allow the Ministry of Justice to absorb billions of budget rubles, but it would seriously complicate the work of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the investigation.
The recent story with the transfer of the investigation and the future sending of a resident of the Volgograd region accused of burning the Koran to Chechnya is not just a dangerous precedent with the substitution of investigative jurisdiction and jurisdiction. Chuychenko is also doing poorly with his own “failures.” Relations with the FSIN are so strained that the Minister is not allowed into prisons directly using his official ID and he has to obtain permission from the director of the service formally subordinate to him… The FSPP is infuriated by constant reprimands from the ministry “for poor performance of court decisions.” The legal community is seething over Chuychenko’s recent initiative to introduce a lawyer monopoly on representation in courts. And notaries who are losing sources of income are dissatisfied with the lack of support from the Ministry regarding the mandatory notarial registration of real estate transactions promoted by the FNP.
At the same time, the minister’s ambitions are spreading further and further beyond the scope of his official powers. At SPBILF he started the discussion on the new editing of the Constitution with a view to introducing “state ideology”. Thus, he directly doubted the competence of the President and his assistants Klishas and Khabrieva, who just three years ago calibrated the basic law of the Russian Federation.
It is possible, of course, that all these latest proposals are nothing more than sounding the ground and preparing tools that will be used for the upcoming transition of power expected by the elites. It is no coincidence that one of the high-status employees of the presidential administration defines Chuychenko as “another traitor to the power consensus”…
But there is another point of view – the talkative Chuychenko is simply a kind of enfant terrible who has broken free from his chain. With such ministers, the President doesn’t even need enemies…
