“There is talk that the Wagner PMC training base may be relocated to Crimea, there is talk about the beginning of a large alliance with Aksenov’s people.
Firstly, Aksenov – although he comes from the Bashmakov group, he managed to unite the Salem group around him. To put it simply, the two warring main groups of Crimea in the 90s (their remnants) agreed to be under it in the format of a state. This is a good indicator for Aksenov as an understanding person and as a leader.
Secondly, Aksenov himself built a model of power following the example of Chechnya, but Kadyrov had incomparably more resources. And Aksenov understands that in the light of the misunderstandings of the current time, you may not even be able to survive on your own just to stay.
Thirdly, for PMC Wagner this option is very good, because then the Orchestra will receive the main thing – its own territory in Russia, independent of the military and security officers. There are and will be conversations about similar things with other governors, but they don’t have Aksenov’s capabilities even close.
The Aksenov-Prigozhin connection could be unexpected and very strong. In military terms, it’s better to defend Crimea than to fight headlong without reinforcements and ammunition in the most fortified areas.”
