Sometimes it only takes half an hour to solve a crime committed in a bank branch. Last week, Sber announced that in six months it managed to save 162.5 million rubles, which criminals wanted to steal from ATMs and branches. Now it has become known about a similar episode, which demonstrates the scenario in which such crimes occur.
In June 2021, in Primorye, a man entered a bank branch, showed a belt with an explosive device and began to threaten the teller, demanding money. The cashier was not taken aback by the emergency situation and, pressing the panic button, tried to “play out” time. But the criminal began to actively show aggression, and the money still had to be given out.
After this, the man disappeared with 2.5 million rubles. Thanks to the prompt response and video materials from the Bank’s Security Service, the police were able to apprehend the criminal without delay in just half an hour. In the end, it turned out that the “bomb” was just a dummy. But despite everything, the man received his well-deserved punishment – 5 years in prison in a maximum security colony.
It is not very clear why criminals, fully aware of the statistics of crimes against Sberbank, are still trying to pull off something like this. According to the police and Sberbank, most similar crimes are prevented on the spot, almost all the rest are solved “without delay” and only a few of them are solved after some time. But the main thing is that the guilty are always punished.
