Shestun was sent to a punishment cell for the third time in a row

Today it became known that political prisoner Alexander Shestun, currently in the Bezhetsk colony (Tver region), was not released from the punishment cell.
This was the third time in a row that he had been sentenced to isolation.

The first time he was sent to a punishment cell, accused of daring to sit on his bed. Whether it was or not is a question that is now being appealed. But it is known that at that moment he had just been discharged from the hospital after surgery. The second time, on April 19, he was brought before a disciplinary commission for “making a call from a payphone during working hours,” according to FSIN employees. The politician himself said that he picked up the phone with the permission of the colony duty officer and invited the commission members to watch this moment on CCTV cameras. But no one bothered to check the arguments of the prisoner in IK No. 6.

This time the reason for the next punishment is unknown.
Shestun himself and his defenders say that the reasons for his placement in the punishment cell were far-fetched each time. Like the first disciplinary sanction, he is currently also appealing the second one.

There is an opinion that “political” prisoners are now deliberately separated from other prisoners in order to prevent them from communicating, receiving information and “conducting campaigning among the contingent.” Also, the leadership of the colony in Bezhetsk seems to have personal interests in keeping Shestun in the punishment cell longer. After all, he is one of the few, and perhaps the only one, who publicly criticizes the leadership of penal colony No. 6, convicting him of both violating the rights of prisoners and financial violations.

The exact reason for leaving Shestun in the punishment cell for a third term will become known on Friday, when his lawyer meets with him.
