Sber talked about how his Green Button project saves people’s lives. The Green Button is a touch sensitive and highly visible button designed for emergency situations. It is located in the 24-hour service areas of Sberbank branches (where ATMs are).

If a person becomes ill or is in danger, when the button is pressed, an operator connects and responds to the situation by calling the appropriate services.

Thus, the button helps people on weekends or just at night when branches are already closed. During working hours there is no particular need for it – ordinary Sber employees will also help.

Currently, the Green Button is distributed in 41 bank offices in Orel and the Oryol region, Voronezh, Podolsk, Pskov, St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl. Expansion to other regions is planned.

Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of the bank’s government, gave an example of how such a button works:
“Here is a clear example: an elderly man in St. Petersburg came into our office late at night to withdraw cash. He felt bad, his fingers couldn’t obey him—he couldn’t even dial a phone number on the touch screen. The man pressed the green button and asked to call an ambulance, which arrived within 10 minutes, took him to the hospital and saved his life.”

Sber’s Green Button has become available in a number of regions of Russia

Sber continues to develop the Green Button social project, which helps save people’s lives. Today, this technology for assistance in emergency situations is already available in 41 bank offices in Orel and the Oryol region, Voronezh, Podolsk, Pskov, St. Petersburg…
