Russian vice-governor with an Abkhaz pistol

More precisely, Austrian or American, because these are the countries that produce prestigious GLOCK pistols. The happy owner of such a weapon was the vice-governor of the Kirov region Andrey Plitko, who was arrested in 2020 for bribery. The fact of possession of the treasured firearm became known from the materials of the trial:

“The lawyer, in turn, asked to attach and examine a copy of the certificate issued by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the right to store and carry an award weapon. As it turned out, Plitko was allowed to carry and store an award weapon – a Glock pistol. The basis for extradition is the decree on awarding Plitko by the President of the Republic of Abkhazia. The judge attached this document.
The lawyer also said that during a search of Plitko’s home, this pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition in the magazine was seized. The pistol was valued at 127 thousand rubles. Then they seized the property, including the Glock. The defense attorney noted that the recovery cannot be applied to state awards of the debtor, and this pistol is an award from the President of Abkhazia. He asked to lift the arrest and hand over Plitko’s pistol.”

In Abkhazia, a scheme was in operation for many years to supply the Russian elite with Western firearms, which also came from Georgia. Amendments made to Russian legislation blocked this semi-legal channel.
