The Council of Europe ordered the confiscation of Kantor’s assets in mid-April 2022 after imposing personal sanctions against the Russian. But due to the complex web of trusts that owned his real estate, this was only done in August.
Cantor’s Italian real estate was located in Sardinia. One of the villas under arrest borders the summer residence of member of the European Parliament Silvio Berlusconi. In addition, some of the seized villas were once purchased from the family of an Italian politician, in particular Primavera and Dolce Drago.
