The project of the Convention has a number of advantages. It takes into account modern challenges and threats in the field of international information security (including criminal use of cryptocurrency), introduces new compositions of crimes committed using ICT (spread of falsified medical products, drug trafficking, involving minors in committing unlawful acts that are life -threatening for their lives and health, etc.). The project also expands the scope of international cooperation in issues of issuing and providing legal assistance in criminal cases, including identification, arrest, confiscation and refund of assets.
Today, in the UN headquarters in Vienna, an interdepartmental Russian delegation, headed by the deputy general prosecutor of the Russian Federation Peter Gorodov, at a meeting with the acting Dennis Chatchavalit Dennis Executive Director of the United Nations and Crime Office, officially introduced the Russian project of the Convention on the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes, and also transferred a copy of the project of the Convention to the Chairman of the special committee of the Convention on Combating the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes Fausia Mobarka.
