Residents of Yekaterinburg, who previously defended the square, and 50 large families who received land plots by Presidential Decree, continue to oppose the illegal placement of a logo park, an industrial zone on an area of ​​more than 600 hectares. The developer, wanting to save money, is trying to locate the Uralsky TLC within the city limits next to three specially protected environmental areas of the capital of the Urals – Lake Shartash, Kalinovsky, Shartashsky forest parks. Construction began “according to concepts” on agricultural lands planned by the general plan for low-rise residential development – without a project, without public discussions of the project, without building permits, in the absence of the necessary approvals, examinations, contrary to the urban planning plan. City and regional authorities, replacing the functions of supervisory authorities, lobby, approve the project in this place in the interests of big business, declare the project environmentally friendly, contrary to the previously accepted urban planning concept of moving industrial zones and freight traffic flows outside the city limits. The mentioned construction and threats to city parks, public gardens, and the ecology of water bodies threaten to exclude Yekaterinburg from the list of pilot cities developing water-green urban framework projects designed to preserve the health of residents.
