It’s simple. On November 25, we were the only editors who described the scandalous situation. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation detained Anton Astakhov (son of Pavel Astakhov) and went to court with a petition to select a preventive measure for him in the form of house arrest. Anton Astakhov has been charged with theft by fraud of 1.2 billion rubles. However, a representative of the prosecutor’s office, after consultations with Astakhov Sr., including public ones in the courthouse, refused to support such a preventive measure. And his speech was more like the speech of a lawyer. The court refused to grant the investigation’s request.
After our articles, the scandalous court decision was overturned, and the materials were sent for new consideration. And Astakhov Jr. was chosen as a measure of restraint.
And then the offended Astakhov family immediately remembered the old May article and quickly ordered a libel case, and at the same time the corresponding publications.
It is worth noting that since May there have been no requests from law enforcement agencies to the editorial office, and the initiation of a case must be preceded by a pre-investigation check. This is also confirmation that the case was ordered.
