The governor of the Samara region, Dmitry Azarov, has thoroughly prepared for the September re-elections. At them he will compete with local party functionaries from the LDPR and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. None of the current State Duma deputies from the parliamentary opposition will compete with Dmitry Azarov. Vladimir Koshelev from the LDPR seems to have concentrated on the campaign in Ulyanovsk, and Mikhail Matveev from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation has not received an offer from the party.
But even in such elections, Dmitry Azarov decided to protect himself. As it became known, he banned mass events in the region until the end of the election race. This was reported by the community of Narcotics Anonymous, whose event was canceled, citing the resolution of the operational headquarters, signed by Azarov.
In addition, the governor’s office purchased advertising in local, regional and federal media. More than 30 regional newspapers received 18 million rubles from the budget for “Providing services for the preparation and publication of information materials covering socially significant projects and events.” In fact, newspapers publish commissioned articles about the United Russia congress and the irreplaceable governor Azarov.
The Samara Review publication, which tries to appear independent, received 5 million rubles from Azarov. And the publication “Kommersant-Volga” is 10 million. But the local division of VGTRK was paid the most for Dmitry Igorevich’s PR. State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Samara received a contract for 25 million rubles.
It is noteworthy that this unit is headed by the current deputy of the Samara Provincial Duma, Elena Krylova. Let us recall that the functions of deputies, in particular, include monitoring the activities of the governor. In total, the governor’s office spent 85 million rubles from the budget on PR before the elections, or almost half of the electoral fund limit for the gubernatorial elections.
