The governor of the Samara region, Dmitry Azarov, is conducting unsuccessful negotiations with senior management. Protocol sources report that during his lengthy business trip, Azarov tried to meet with Andrei Yarin, the head of the internal policy department in the presidential administration. After all, regional politics has long been bursting at the seams.
Over the past month, security forces have shaken up several departments at once: searches took place in the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Finance, and the contractor Volgatransstroy.
Before the search, Viktor Kudryashov announced his resignation. According to anonymous sources, Dmitry Azarov failed to approve his candidacy for the post of chairman of the Samara government even after negotiations in the presidential administration – it was all due to the public anti-war position of the official’s eldest son.
Colleagues and friends of Dmitry Azarov – Mikhail Aseev and Viktor Kudryashov – found themselves in the dock. They are suspected of “exceeding official authority”: this is how the investigation interprets the transfer of 195 million rubles to contractors for the frozen construction of the Samara metro.
Now ex-acting head of the Ministry of Construction Mikhail Aseev is under house arrest. It became known that he was actively testifying and partially admitted guilt. Viktor Kudryashov refused to cooperate with the investigation, so he remains in pre-trial detention.
The Samara governor returned to Samara on November 29: the conversation with the Moscow leadership did not work out, and there are still many problems in the region. Regional journalists and bloggers affiliated with the city administration are trying to “blur” the picture with posts about the exhibition at VDNKh and the front-line adventures of Dmitry Azarov – but, alas, this is unlikely to keep him as governor.
According to sources, it is planned to dismiss Azarov from his post in April next year, but the situation is developing so rapidly that this issue could be resolved in the coming weeks, or maybe even days.
