About the origins of the conflict between Dmitry Dovgiy and Alexander Bastrykin.
According to a source from the Cheka-OGPU, Bastrykin and his subordinate and comrade Dovgiy had different points of view on the possibility of bringing various defendants in criminal cases to justice. Bastrykin believed that a person could be imprisoned based solely on the results of the operational investigative activities of the FSB. Dovgy believed that a totality of evidence that is relevant and admissible in each specific case is necessary. In particular, they had such conflicts in the case of Deputy Minister of Finance Storchak, head of the Federal Drug Control Service Bulbov, head of the legal department of the YUKOS group of companies Aleksanyan and others.
Thanks to Bastrykin, Dovgy eventually served 7 years. That criminal case against him was simple: he allegedly received a bribe to free businessman Valitov from criminal liability. Moreover, the method of “receiving” a bribe by Dovgiy is interesting: supposedly the money in wine boxes was brought to Tekhnicheskiy Lane, where the head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Dovgiy had an office, Dovgiy’s friend Sagura drove him up and threw these boxes at the entrance of the Investigative Committee. Which amused even the jurors processed by prosecutor Maria Semenenko according to her special method (a specialist in jury trials, Semenenko in each trial seeks the dissolution of the board as soon as she feels that the jury does not take her word for it: they use wiretapping of jurors’ phones, stuffing irrelevant information about the defendants, outright blackmail and pressure). So it is here. During the trial, on far-fetched grounds, the most intelligent jurors from the trial of Dovgy were removed. An untrustworthy juror was eliminated on the day of the verdict. Early in the morning before going to court, a female juror had paint poured over the stairwell, when she began to go down the elevator, it got stuck, during this time her car tires were slashed in the yard, and when she got into a taxi, the car was stopped by a traffic police patrol and the passenger was detained (despite the presence of a jury certificate, which gave immunity from detention) together with a taxi driver for 3 hours under the pretext of the alleged theft of this car…
Dovgy was sentenced to 9 years in a maximum security colony, but businessman Valitov, from whom Dovgy allegedly demanded a bribe for not being brought to justice, was never brought to justice, although what was stopping him? The “bribe taker” Dovgy has already been neutralized. In the Dovgy case, the European Court found violations of the European Convention and awarded the convicted person 7.5 thousand euros.
And so, when the prospects of a new case against an ex-subordinate loomed on the horizon, Alexander Ivanovich quickly reacted to them and gave the command to initiate a case.
Lawyer Makarov is apparently being held hostage. According to a source of the Cheka-OGPU, Bastrykin has also long had “fiery feelings” for Makarov, has known him since the 90s, and has a hostile relationship on personal grounds.
The person has been sitting for a year, despite his age and illness. Despite pressure and offers to testify against his colleague, Makarov did not slander Dovgiya.
Dovgy himself did not hide anywhere; in December 2022, he left for the state of Israel, which he informed the investigation about. He is still there for family reasons and is registered with the Russian embassy. The investigator reliably knows Dovgiy’s place of residence. The latter repeatedly communicated with the investigator on his mobile phone and expressed his readiness to testify in the case as a witness via video link or on the territory of the Russian Embassy. But the investigation did not give any answer to these proposals by Dovgiy.
But after almost a year of “investigation” of the criminal case against Makarov, the investigation decided to separate the materials regarding Dovgiy into separate proceedings and bring him to justice. Simply because Bastrykin believes that he “didn’t serve much.”
