The Dossier Center and the German publication Süddeutsche Zeitung conducted a joint investigation and found that Marssalek could be recruited more than twenty years ago. Presumably, all this time he provided Russian intelligence services about contacts with Western colleagues and politicians, as well as financial services. Among the main Russian contacts of Marsealek was the senior teacher of the VSHE School of Oriental Studies Andrei Chuprygin, who acted as his assistant to Libyan projects.
It was in Libya that Marseleki under the guise of business development was engaged in the creation of private military companies, as well as the implementation of a refugee control project that he tried to present to European politicians as a solution to the migration crisis – Marselek proposed blocking the southern border of Libya, which was planned to be carried out with the help of mercenaries.
The new data obtained by the Dossier and Süddeutsche Zeitung Center allowed to identify another “assistant” by Marsealek from Russia. It turned out to be an ex-employee of the State Duma apparatus and management of Presidential Affairs Stanislav Petlinsky, who at joint meetings with Marsealen in Munich was represented as a leader of mercenaries. In an interview with Dossier, Petlinsky confirmed that he participated in the Libyan negotiations on the clearance of a cement plant in Benghazi, in which Marsealek invested in 2015. Moreover, it was he who organized the trip to Marsealek to Syria in 2017-later the top manager of Wirecard boasted in front of his business partners that he was a guest of the Russian military and “boys” who freed Palmyra from ISIS.
Marsealek’s Middle East adventures did not end there. So, for example, in his electronic correspondence with the former head of the CIA special detachment, as well as one of the ex-USAs, it was a question of convincing Austria’s politicians to transfer the Austrian embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
