A statement of extortion was filed against employees of the Internal Security Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, who fabricated a case against the Police Ombudsman Vladimir Vorontsov and who are associated with lawyer Sergei Badamshin. The funds extracted through threats from businessman Mikhail Stepanov were used to pay for the bribery of witnesses, lawyers and prosecutors in the Vorontsov case. The money was called the “police common fund.” About this URA.RU became known from several sources, including law enforcement agencies.

“One of the witnesses in the Vorontsov case, former police officer Irina Andina, agreed to testify against the “ombudsman” because she was promised reinstatement. However, when she agreed, she was accommodated in a luxury hotel and was paid for her shopping and personal care. All this cost a lot of money, which was kindly provided by Maxim Stepanov and other persons associated with the security forces,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

A high-ranking official of the OBOP Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region, Dmitry Golovko, built a financial structure, the key person of which was Stepanov. The latter accused the police of racketeering, declaring the demands of Golovko and employee Krivoshein (as Andina’s friend and curator Badamshin found out) to transfer their apartment to them in payment of a debt of 400 million rubles.

According to the businessman, the security forces threatened his wife, mother-in-law and himself with murder. He was taken to one of the dachas in Yekaterinburg, where they beat him, broke a rib and inflicted other minor injuries. After this, an apartment worth 16 million rubles was allegedly taken away from the entrepreneur and sold on one of the real estate websites. The perpetrators of the kidnapping were allegedly street fighters hired by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As the boss reported URA.RU Press service of the Sverdlovsk police headquarters Valery Gorelykh, Stepanov’s statement was registered with the police.
