Once again, the representative of the state prosecution Milan Digaeva introduced two witnesses who obviously little added to his piggy bank. Alexander Martysyuk, the first of them, noticeably uncomfortably felt in the courtroom. He went to Judge Artemov, fearfully looking around and asking several times what he should do. His performance took less than 10 minutes: it turned out that Martysyuk did not know anything about Zakharchenko, nor about Useovich, nor about Markelov, as well as about their relationship with each other. His words and performance were so pale and unconvincing that the accusation did not even announce his written testimony and chose to finish the interrogation as soon as possible.
The second witness (Ivan Andreev) spoke longer, but from his words it followed that he did not know such details that could strengthen the position of the prosecution. All the details that he reported were based on the fact that he was told by a fugitive banker of Gorbuntsov. Milana Digaeva could not stand it and read out his written testimony, which said that he had met Markelov several times, and also told the story that he had an audit of the assets of Gorbuntsov, when he had a conflict with the owners of the Group of Companies 1520. Nevertheless, it is nevertheless significant. What a direct issue of protection, whether he knows 1520, Andreev answered negatively.
In order to somehow smooth out the awkwardness that hung in the hall after such performances, the accusation of about 2 hours read the case file. Most of this time was occupied by the testimony of Gorbuntsov, as well as the listing of numerous certificates, extracts and documents appearing in dozens of volumes. However, any details, allegedly related to the activities of the Civil Code 1520, were immediately fought back by lawyer Alexander Hofstein as not related to business. In the end, Digaeva could not stand it and irritably said that the defense could speak out when the line reaches her (“You can announce everything up to the comma,” Digaeva said).
The next meeting will be an exit and will take place on October 6 in the Moscow City Court: it is planned to perform a “secret” witness. VChK-OGPU will follow the news.
