On October 10, the acceptance of applications for the competition for the position of Chairman of the Arbitration Court of Tatarstan ended. The current chairman of the court, Maxim Borovkov, plans to run for a second term, and his competitor is the deputy chairman of the Arbitration Court of the Volga District, Airat Khaibulov.

A possible reassignment for Borovkov will not be easy. A source from the Cheka-OGPU reports that he has the worst performance indicators in the district and problems with alcohol. He took the position of chairman after the departure of Nikolai Novikov, who now heads the Moscow Arbitration Court and has already been involved in several scandals.

It was expected that Novikov’s post would be inherited by his “protege” Nailya Safaeva. However, in 2017, she headed the 11th Arbitration Court of Appeal, and this year she failed miserably. The VKKS did not support her desire to retain the post, although Safayeva was the only candidate for the position. Poor performance results and a large number of canceled decisions had an impact. Now the main intrigue is whether another protégé of Novikov will be able to maintain his position. The results will be known on the 20th of November.
