On behalf of the head of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Vladimir Terentyev, the issue of the immediate transfer of a criminal case from the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the fact of causing bodily injuries to Sergei Sukhov, from which he died, was initiated. This happened after hundreds of dissatisfied people gathered near the Ministry of Internal Affairs building in Yalta and blocked one of the streets. They protested that one of the attackers was released.

According to the Investigative Committee, on the evening of September 6 of this year, three residents of Yalta had a conflict, during which the victim was stabbed multiple times. More than 30 blows were struck. Fearing the death of their acquaintance, the men placed him in a car and took him to a medical facility for assistance, after which they fled.

The police opened a criminal case into the fact of causing bodily harm to the man. The victim later died from his injuries. One of the detainees was released. The second, Vladimir Kikavets, was left in custody.

There was information among the population that the attackers turned out to be difficult people and the police received a call from above.

That’s why one of them was released. And they allegedly want to reclassify the case itself as exceeding permissible self-defense.

After protests, the second attacker was detained again. He turned out to be the platoon commander of the Alupka special forces company of the union of veterans of the combined regiment of the Crimean people’s militia, Kirill Gontarenko. The case will now be transferred to the Investigative Committee.
