New details have emerged in the case of the arrested founder of Group IB (now FACCCT) Ilya Sachkov. We have obtained an appeal to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, written by Sachkov himself with a detailed explanation of the circumstances that led to his arrest. In the document, the accused identified the culprit of his situation – the current head of the FSB Information Security Center, Oleg Innokentyevich Kashintsev. The appeal quite seriously changes the view of the causes of the matter.

The case of Group IB founder Ilya Sachkov is based on the testimony of the former head of the FSB Information Security Center, Sergei Mikhailov, sentenced to 22 years for espionage. He not only ratted out Russian hackers, but also helped fabricate cases against ordinary IT specialists of Russian origin, including Sachkov.

After Mikhailov’s arrest, his chair was taken by his deputy Oleg Innokentyevich Kashintsev, who, according to Sachkov, is also the prosecutor in his case along with his ex-boss. This is an interesting situation in all its nuances, especially in the acute phase of cyber warfare.

Considering the new facts voiced by Ilya Sachkov in his address to the head of the Investigative Committee, it would be worth taking a closer look at those who are handling Sachkov’s case.
