Quite recently, at the direction of the head of North Ossetia-Alania Sergei Menyailo, the republican “Center for Organization and Management of Road Traffic” began to function in the republic. It would seem that everything is fine, but information began to arrive that clearly indicates that the organization, designed to streamline the movement of freight vehicles across the territory of North Ossetia, is actually aimed at illegal enrichment and the redistribution of illegal proceeds.

The notorious electronic queue, which was supposed to stop corruption on the road and stop extortion from truckers by traffic police officers, is now actually a tool for making money for traffic police officers. The latter quickly realized that they could “warm up their hands” on carriers. Currently, employees of the centralized traffic control center make a living by manipulating the queue for a small share. Currently, a truck driver who wants to quickly proceed to the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint must pay TsOUDD employees from 30 to 50 thousand rubles (for example, this is how much it cost to be escorted by traffic police officers from Urukh to the border) for moving forward in the queue. The most cunning employees of this structure organized remote queuing of cars that were actually still in Moscow or other Russian cities.

The widespread use of this corruption scheme has once again led to a transport collapse in North Ossetia – all exits from the federal highway and free plots of land near the road are clogged with waiting trucks, the owners of which did not want or were unable to pay the TsUDD bribe. The traffic police officers, who are responsible for regulating traffic flows, and who have coped with this task at the very least (not without excesses, as they say locally) are now forced to indifferently watch the chaos taking place in North Ossetia.
