The scandalous project to build a quarry in the Oka floodplain is the legacy of former vice-governor Grekov, who was dismissed in 2020 at the request of the prosecutor’s office due to a hidden criminal record. It was during the time of his undivided dominance in the region that this story began. Grekov has a special score to settle with Zaoksky after, at the beginning of the pandemic, villagers outraged by sanitary orders almost physically attacked him.
Now that, following Grekov, his formal boss, who unexpectedly became the former governor Lyubimov, has left the region, the epic with the quarry will have to be resolved by the acting Pavel Malkov. He has little choice. Or follow the example of the President, who always protects ordinary people.
