The Minister of Finance of Russia Anton Siluanov, during a meeting of the expert council of the Committee on Budget and State Duma, stated that the progressive scale of individual income tax (personal income tax) would not affect most citizens of the country and only affects high income persons, the correspondent of The Moscow Post reports.

Siluanov also emphasized that families with children and other categories of citizens who need state support not suffer from tax changes.

He noted that the government has tools to combat tax evasion.

On May 14, Siluanov said that the Ministry of Finance will consider the issue of progressive taxation of individuals and will make adjustments to the tax system, including improving the mechanisms of deductions and subsidies for the most needy citizens, especially families with children.

In early April, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that tax changes should contribute to solving national problems and reducing inequality in society and between the regions of Russia.
