Metropolitan Tikhon, aka Georgy Shevkunov, now the former rector of the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow, was sent into honorable exile to Crimea, where he will head the metropolis of the peninsula.

As the source of the Cheka-OGPU notes, in Crimea Shevkunov will meet with his former curator from the FSB of Russia, Major General Anatoly Fomenko.

Anatoly Anatolyevich Fomenko in the mid-2000s was the first deputy of the Internal Security Service of the FSB of Russia, and since the late 90s he became close friends and took Bishop Tikhon under his “operational wing.” And it was then that the “vetted church official” was introduced to the first person of the state.

Fomenko and Shevkunov worked literally next door, the Sretensky Monastery and the so-called 21 houses, where the CSS was located, are located opposite each other, one courtyard.

Now Fomenko is retired and lives in a “weighty” apartment on the seashore. He has been hiding on the peninsula for several years from his former colleagues. It was Fomenko who in 2005-06 was involved in the close circle of the then director of the FSB, and now the all-powerful head of the Russian Security Council, Patrushev. Together with the team of Viktor Cherkesov, they took into development Patrushev’s deputy Vladimir Anisimov and Sergei Shishin and their company, who established smuggling from China. The cargo was sent by plane and train to several closed military units of the FSB and was then sold duty-free at retail. Then, during a search, over $250 million in cash was seized from one of the deputy directors of the FSB.

After this, Patrushev was removed to the Security Council, and Fomenko continued to work in the CSS and be friends with Shevkunov.

It is interesting that even before all the events with the revelations, Tikhon had to carry out very unusual orders from the leadership of the FSB of the Russian Federation and Patrushev. Thus, it was he who organized the conversion to Orthodoxy and baptism of Rashid Nurgaliev, who was then Patrushev’s deputy.

Time passed and Anisimov, Patrushev and Shishin, who had recovered from the scandal and were forgiven by the president, decided to take revenge on their offenders and Fomenko’s career came to an end. They even wanted to arrest him, but the experienced general, sensing something was wrong, jumped out into the street in only a suit in the bitter cold using his cover ID. He hid in Montenegro for a long time until Putin forgave him. He quietly settled in Crimea, fearing to be seen by the FSB officers who had offended him.
