This is the first liturgy of the Metropolitan of Kyiv after the Council on May 27. The service took place in the Church of St. Agapit of Pechersk in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.
Listing, as is customary, the Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches, the Metropolitan named Patriarch Kirill third after the Patriarchs of Antioch and Jerusalem, as the heads of autocephalous Churches do.
“The Most Holiness Orthodox Patriarchs: John of Antioch, Theophilus of Jerusalem, Cyril of Moscow and All Rus’, Ilya of Georgia, Porfiry of Serbia, Daniel of Romania, Neophyte of Bulgaria, Your Beatitudes Archbishops and Bishops: Anastasius of Albania, Savva of Poland, Rostislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, American and Canadian Tikhon… may the Lord remember him in His Kingdom always, now and ever, and forever and ever,” proclaimed Metropolitan Onuphry during the Great Entrance.
The Primate of the UOC missed the previously accepted formulation when mentioning the Patriarch of Moscow, “our great lord and father.”
At the same time, the names of the Patriarch of Constantinople who recognized the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, as well as the Primates of the Greek, Cypriot and Alexandrian Orthodox Churches were not mentioned.
At the Great Litany, the deacon proclaimed: “About your most holy Orthodox Patriarchs and Beatitudes Metropolitans, about our lord and father, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry…”
