Regions are divided between system clans and given over for feeding.
I count about five ruling clans in Russia:
– “siloviki” (exits from the KGB and FSB with the FSO),
– “Kovalchuk” (managers who arose from Andrei Sakharov’s precepts about the need for the power of scientists and technocrats),
– “military” (the country has been at war almost continuously since 1992, from Abkhazia),
– “family” (people from the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Komsomol, transnational speculators who rallied around Yeltsin),
– “globalists” (grouped around Chubais and his associates, they are an independent center of power, acting by proxy from the Western club elite system).
There are still remnants of groups of “regional barons” (Shaimiev, Rossel, Luzhkov and national regions), but they have been defeated and are joining the dominant clans.
Now at the highest system level of direct influence on the first person, the “siloviki” and “Kovalchuk” dominate.
The “family” suffered heavy losses during the SVO (and this is a visible result for those who started it).
But the situation with Roizman (it’s not about him, but about the struggle for the symbolic patrimony of the “family”, for Yekaterinburg) showed that the “family” can resist and is not yet ready to put the squeeze on it.
Chubais has temporarily left and is pretending to be sick to wait out the crisis.
The “military” traditionally controls the Moscow region, regions of central Russia (Vladimir, Ryazan, for example) and some regions of Siberia, the Volga region and the Caucasus.
