Today, according to Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment is significantly lower than the lower limit – 2 years and 3 months was received in the Zheleznodorozhny District Court by one of the key defendants, the former director of the Engineering and Construction Survey Trust, Vladimir Zharkov. It was he who, on behalf of the enterprise, concluded a contract to adjust the metro construction project and made decisions on the disposal of received funds, while Mitvol was a shareholder and could only take part in the general meeting. Both defendants admitted guilt in full, had mitigating circumstances and no aggravating circumstances. However, Zharkov, who was awaiting trial on his own recognizance, received a sentence half as long as Mitvol, who served 13 months in custody.
By the same “compatriot” principle, former Minister of Transport of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Konstantin Dimitrov actually avoided a long, truly deserved sentence: he was given 3 years, despite aggravating circumstances in the form of public service. Now in the Central District Court they are trying as much as possible to remove former Prime Minister Yuri Lapshin and ex-head of the Regional Transport Administration Konstantin Mandrov from criminal prosecution, who did not admit their guilt at all. Both remain calm, as the source reports: former governor Alexander Uss allegedly agreed on suspended sentences for them, in exchange for receiving no evidence against himself.
Was it really Oleg Mitvol that someone from above decided to “let all the dogs go”, making him the last one in this sensational story, and excluding the real culprits from criminal liability?
