Smirnov, Chvanov, and other unidentified persons, no later than 15.45 on December 30, 1997, entered into a conspiracy aimed at killing Afanasyev for a reward of at least 7,000 US dollars. Smirnov found a 7.65 mm pistol and at least 4 Browning cartridges for it. The defendants conducted surveillance of the victim. Further, while in the Gubanov emergency cafe at 26 Engels Ave., Chvanov fired 4 shots into Afanasyev’s head. The victim died. The defendants divided $7,000 among themselves.
