“Which of the Russian journalists writes about the FSB, who is behind the telegram channel VChK-OGPU, which of Novaya Gazeta has sources in the Lubyanka?” – this is just part questions, the answers to which were of interest to the FSB operatives who conducted searches and subsequent interrogations of me within the walls of the detention center. For a year now, the security forces have been trying to take control of the field of independent Telegram channels and media, for which Telegram remained the only platform connecting them with readers. And this task is being solved very successfully. Some of the channels, the authors and administrators of which were detained, as a rule, under Article 163 of the Criminal Code “Extortion,” passed into the hands of new owners – those who actually carried out the arrests. Some channels, for example, those included in the “Kristina Potupchik network,” after a search of her home and offices, began to voluntarily and actively cooperate with the new curators. Finally, with the help of cheats and bots, channels of “our own production” began to become leaders of the Telegram community: with the help of the DSP, the 2nd Service and the Directorate of Assistance Programs of the FSB, entire “networks” of conspiracy theories with mysterious and catchy names have recently been created, where “insights” are leaked daily and en masse, the reading of which is breathtaking, but nothing can be verified. The authors of the “special channels” not only carry out “active measures” to drain disinformation from the life of the Kremlin, the White House, and at the same time MI6, Mossad and the CIA. These “paid agents” are also engaged in collecting information about journalists, editors and administrators of those channels that have not yet come under the control of the intelligence services, moreover, they have become a real “headache” for the intelligence services. The main and best example is the channel VChK-OGPU, the author (two, three, four authors?) who is now being sought by several special services and departments of Russia. Where does the Cheka get so much exclusive information, who leaks information to them, where is the editorial office located? – they asked me, having found several texts from the channel’s feed on my computer. “If you are the author of the Cheka, this will take a long time,” they told me. It’s hard to imagine a better assessment of the editorial staff. The quality of media work today is determined by the degree of risk to which its employees are exposed.
