It has finally become clear that the case of the head of a Russian cybersecurity company…

It has become completely clear that the case of the head of the Russian cybersecurity company Group-IB, Ilya Sachkov, is based on the testimony of the former head of the operational department of the FSB Information Security Center, Sergei Mikhailov, who was sentenced to 22 years for treason.

There were many versions. Sachkov’s arrest was associated with a public accusation against the head of the Evil Corp. group, with criticism of the authorities and law enforcement agencies for the ineffective fight against cybercrime, and much more.

However, a completely logical and plausible version of the initiation of criminal prosecution of Sachkov is associated with Sergei Mikhailov and Dmitry Dokuchaev, exposed for treason and working for foreign intelligence services, who worked undercover for many years in the CIB of the FSB of Russia. It has now become clear that the imprisonment of the head of one of the country’s large IT companies was a logical step in destroying Russia’s cybersecurity sphere. Mikhailov managed to do this even while behind bars.

Dmitry Zubakha was detained and accused of organizing DDoS attacks. Pavel Vrublevsky, who founded the company ChronoPay, was accused of a DDoS attack on a competitor, the Assist payment system. In October 2016, another Russian, Evgeny Nikulin, was captured. And last year – the owner of the M13 company, Vladislav Klyushin. Konstantin Kozlovsky and his hacker group Lurk were detained in 2016. He was sentenced to 14 years. The programmer is convinced that the materials against him were falsified.

In all stories with witnesses, there is a certain nuance – the cases were conducted by former colleagues of Sergei Mikhailov, which leads to speculation about bias on the part of the investigation. And most importantly, all subsequent arrests are suspiciously similar to revenge on the part of the arrested former head of the FSB CIB

In the meantime, IT experts continue to sit behind bars, there is a real cyber war (the First World Hacker War), which largely affects the information field in the world. And Russia looks pale in it. Not only media websites are being uncovered, but also those of strategic Russian departments, including Roscosmos, the Ministry of Defense, customs, Kremlin resources, federal and regional media.
