According to the investigation, on August 5, 2022, at about 10:20 p.m., on the territory of the strict conditions detachment of correctional colony No. 2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Kalmykia, two convicts, acting as a group of persons by prior conspiracy, deliberately, with the aim of killing two persons in connection with the implementation of their official activities, using a home-made sharpened plate and reinforcement with a hand-made ax, attacked employees colony, causing them injuries of varying severity. As a result of the incident, one correctional officer died at the scene, the second was subsequently hospitalized in the republican hospital for medical care and is in serious condition.
In the period from 22:40 to 23:00 of the same day, the convicts entered the dormitory territory, where, resisting arrest, using the above-mentioned piercing and cutting objects, they used violence, including life-threatening violence, against 6 correctional officers, who received injuries of varying severity.
Two convicts, born in 2000 and born in 1994, were detained for committing the crime. One of them was serving a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 3 years and 6 months for committing several crimes, including robbery, the other was serving a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 15 years for committing several crimes, including murder.
