Investigative Committee of Russia continues the investigation of a criminal case initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 239 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, on the fact of creating a non -profit organization encroaching on the identity and rights of citizens. The charge of committing this crime was brought by Alexei Navalny.

According to the investigation, Navalny created a non -profit organization performing the functions of a foreign agent – the “Foundation for Combating Corruption” (by the decision of the Moscow City Court, it was recognized as extremist and was liquidated in the Russian Federation). In the period since 2011, Navalny together with Ivan Zhdanov, Leonid Volkov and other persons led her. The activities of the fund were associated with the motivation of citizens to commit unlawful acts.
Navalny, Volkov, Zhdanov and other persons organized the distribution on their personal pages on the Internet and on the pages of the FBC on behalf of the non -profit organization of publications that they head, containing calls to participate in citizens of the Russian Federation in inconsistent rallies in January of this year. At the same time, Navalny was reliably known in advance about the unlawful nature of the planned measures in connection with the current restrictions and without the coordination with the authorities of their implementation. Navalny realized that administrative liability was provided for participating in inconsistent rallies.
