The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Voronezh Region have opened a criminal case against a 27-year-old US citizen on grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of violence against a government official in connection with the performance of his official duties).
According to preliminary data, on January 17, 2022, in the evening, 27-year-old US citizen Robert Gilman, who was intoxicated in a passenger train car and was violating public order, was brought to the duty station of the South-Eastern LU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia by transport. Disagreeing with the lawful actions of government officials, the man used violence against a police officer who was on duty, kicking him several times.

The rowdy’s actions were stopped by police officers.
The attacker was detained on suspicion of committing this crime; at the request of the investigative authorities, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention against him.
Investigators from the Investigative Committee inspected the scene of the incident and ordered a set of necessary forensic examinations, including a forensic examination to establish the severity of the injuries caused to the police officer. Witnesses are questioned and other investigative and procedural actions are carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
