On April 1, deputy Mardanshin wrote an appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. It stated the lawyer’s information that his client E. A. Markelov was detained by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, beat him, and also tortured him with a stun gun.
This story began on March 24th. Then in Ufa, employees of the drug trafficking department stopped Markelov’s car. According to operational data from the police, Markelov could be involved in the distribution of drugs. During a personal search, no drugs were found on the man. However, correspondence allegedly related to the manufacture and sale of drugs was found on Markelov’s phone. At the same time, the man explained that the phone did not belong to him.
However, the next day, a case was already opened against him and “unknown persons” under Article 3, Article 30, Part 4, Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The detainee refused to testify. On the same day, the man was sent to a pre-trial detention center.
At the same time, in the case materials there was still a receipt from Markelov, in which he writes “that he is ready to give” testimony. The man later told his lawyer that the police tortured and beat him. Police officers Derbyshev, Kulagin, Mirgaliev deny beatings and torture.
At the same time, on March 27, the arrested Markelov received a certificate, which clearly stated that the man had bruises of the soft tissues of the head. Now both the police and the investigator Fattakhov, who opened the case, are being checked by the Investigative Committee.
