In the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, everything is ready for an operation to overcome the chronological order of consideration of cases. The countdown is on – the date has been set. Time will flow backward on August 15, 2023. On this day, despite the current legislation and procedural norms, the complaint filed 4 months later than the second will be considered first. This unprecedented action opens Pandora’s box and completely changes the rules – now in Russian judicial practice it will be possible to study the arguments and evidence of opponents set out in their complaint, file a counter-complaint taking into account the information received and have it considered first.

The first result of this “innovative approach,” as we previously reported, will be the Sredneuralsk Copper Smelter (SUMZ) gaining control over RUK LLC, which has rights to a landfill near Revda. It is there that SUMZ plans to illegally bury toxic production waste. All this is contrary to the national project “Ecology”, which is supervised by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation V.V. Abramchenko, and contrary to the activities of the public law company “Russian Environmental Operator”. As a result, irreversible damage will be caused to the environment, but the top management of SUMZ will receive bonuses for a successfully implemented operation. It is now difficult to predict what kind of environmental disaster such a “solution to the issue” will turn out to be. Such “innovations” in judicial practice should without a doubt be assessed by the High Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation, as well as law enforcement agencies.
