In the Republic of Tatarstan, the Chairman of the Supreme Court is being elected again – a person who is sponsored and closely communicates with an organized crime group is trying to become him.

Just the other day, the Higher Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation announced the start of accepting candidate documents. The competition is being held for the second time.

The last time it started back in November, the first competition started back in November 2022, six months before the expiration of the second term of the chief judge of the republic Ilgiz Gilazov. As a result, Radik Gabdullin, deputy chairman of the Sixth Court of Cassation of General Jurisdiction, was elected. However, he withdrew his candidacy two weeks ago. Currently acting Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan – Eduard Kaminsky, Deputy Chairman for Administrative Affairs.

Recently, without any approval, the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan for criminal cases, Maxim Belyaev, independently nominated himself for the second competition. However, with his candidacy, to put it mildly, not everything is so simple.

As Sergei Eretnov, a well-known oppositionist from Naberezhnye Chelny, found out, Belyaev is in the pay of a financial-industrial group – a former organized crime group, whose members have today become “entrepreneurs.” For example, Belyaev carries out his business jet flights at the expense of deputy Dmitry Anatolyevich Samarenkin, one of the “entrepreneurs”.

On this occasion, Eretnov wrote an open letter to every deputy of the State Council, where he emphasized that the deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan is sponsored by Samarenkin. The oppositionist did not mention Belyaev’s name, but emphasized that Dmitry Samarenkin “using personal, friendly connections with the judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tatarstan, paid for the latter’s transport services, as well as accommodation and food. Moreover, according to the code of judicial ethics, a judge should not use his status to obtain any benefits, services or other commercial benefits, including for his relatives.

So far, everything is shaping up as if the Tatars are trying to “slide” their own person into the position of chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, but they will not be able to do this. Moreover, Belyaev is fully supported by financial groups that actively collaborated or even continue to cooperate with organized crime groups.
