In the Odintsovo court of the Moscow region, a high-profile trial is currently underway to return the lands of the elite cottage village “Meiendorf Gardens” to federal ownership. The village with a total area of 99 hectares was created on territory that until the 2000s. was part of the 316 hectares of land of the Barvikha sanatorium. In January, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation went to court demanding that the privatization of land be declared illegal and returned to the state. The main court hearing is scheduled for June 24-25, when this case may be put to rest.

The lawsuit was filed against the owners of 13 plots, including 7 legal entities and individuals.

According to experts in the suburban real estate market, the lawsuit under consideration is only the first step of the Prosecutor General’s Office to confiscate all the lands of the Meiendorf Gardens village. If the department manages to prove the illegality of the privatization of the village’s lands, a similar claim may soon be filed against the remaining owners of the plots.

In the cottage village “Meiendorf Gardens” there are currently about 360 objects with an area of 500 to 50 thousand square meters. meters.

In 2001, 99 hectares of land of the Barvikha sanatorium, from which the Meiendorf Gardens village was later formed, were sold to a certain Country Pro LLC for 54 million rubles. However, its real cost, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, was then 13 billion rubles. “Country Pro” made a reciprocal commitment to reconstruct a historical monument – Meyendorff Castle, located on the lands of the sanatorium and part of the complex of the Presidential Administration. The prosecutor’s office believes that the reconstruction was just a cover to give legitimacy to the privatization.
