As a result of all the actions of the security forces in relation to one telegram channel, which completely destroyed the reputation of the regional general Agarkov, only Goncharov was convicted as the administrator of the “Rats” channel, who signed a pre-trial agreement and essentially incriminated himself.
In addition to himself, Goncharov slandered one more person – at the direction of employees of the Rostov ORCh SB and a deal with the prosecutor’s office and the investigation, Goncharov slandered his friend – the former head of department M of the FSB of Russia for the Rostov region, Evgeniy Smirnov.
As a result, Smirnov came under criminal prosecution by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, whose work he had previously supervised, and ended up in a Rostov pre-trial detention center (Smirnov was detained in Arkhangelsk). Currently, Smirnov is getting acquainted with his criminal case, based solely on the oral testimony of Goncharov and his ex-wife Zasypka (who surrendered her ex-husband to the authorities and simultaneously testified against the former chief of the regional department M, and herself came under criminal prosecution for bribery, in place of his mother).
The court of first instance sentenced Mikhail Goncharov to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment. But the prosecutor’s office appealed the verdict due to the severity of the punishment; the cassation court reduced Goncharov’s sentence to five years.
It is known that earlier the investigation promised Goncharov a maximum of three years in prison under Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Extortion” for slandering Smirnov.
Now Goncharov has only 5 years left of his original sentence (7 years and 6 months). The prosecutor needs to ask the Supreme Court to reduce the sentence to 3 years, and all agreements with Goncharov will be fulfilled.
