An investigator of the investigative department for the city of Mytishchi of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region opened a criminal case on the fact of negligence of officials exercising powers within the framework of state control in the Moscow Region, which led to the injury of a 2-year-old girl as a result of an attack by a monkey (Part 2 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the investigation, officials did not take measures to organize inspections of the conditions of keeping wild animals in a private zoo, organized by a local resident in the village of Terpigorievo, Mytishchi urban district, on the territory of a private land plot.
As a result, on July 21, 2022, a monkey from the “Matabean” species ran away and, having moved to the territory of a neighboring site, attacked the child and caused bite wounds. The girl was hospitalized in a medical facility.
A set of urgent investigative actions is currently being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances that led to the incident. The investigator has inspected the scene of the incident, interrogations are being carried out, and it is planned to order a forensic medical examination to determine the severity of the harm caused to the girl’s health.
